Congrats to Richard D!
Richard has won a scholarship from Apple for the June World Wide Developer Conference (Apple's annual sold-out programming extravaganza). 150 students from all over the world were selected based off their studies - Richard's work is in iOS applications in Geographical Information Systems!

Welcome to Dr. Saeed Zadeh
Dr. Saeed J. Zadeh is joining the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as an assistant professor. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). His main areas are power systems, control theory and electric drives. At CSUB he will have the primary responsibility for directing the Power Seminconductors and Electrical Machinery Laboratory.

Apple Store Coming the Bakersfield!
The Apple Store will be opening in Bakersfield very soon. Apple is sending a recruiter to CSUB on May 16th to host an employment information table from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm outdoors in the Runner Cafe Quad. The visit is posted in RunnerLink.

Welcome to Dr. Hani Mehrpouyan
Dr. Hani Mehrpouyan is joining the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science as an assistant professor. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Queen's University, Canada. Prior to joining CSUB, he held industry positions at Research In Motion, Vtech Engineering, and Alcatel Canada. He has taught many courses in the field of electrical engineering at the Department of ECE at Queen's University, Canada and Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. His research interest are in the area of digital and wireless communications, signal processing, and estimation and detection theory. At CSUB he will have the primary responsibility for directing the new Digital Signal Processing and Communications Laboratory.

Occidental Petroleum Corporation Looking for Geoscience Technician and Technical Assistant
Occidental Petroleum Corporation is visiting the CSUB campus on Monday and Tuesday, June 4th and 5th to host an information session and to interview students for Geoscience Technician and Technical Assistant positions. Oxy is seeking motivated individuals who are interested in a career with our growing and action-oriented oil and gas company. Ideal candidates are pursuing or have a degree in Geology, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other technical discipline.
